Edward Gleason

Member

Ed Gleason joined the firm as a member in 2021 and is the partner in charge of the Washington, D.C. office. He represents labor unions across the country in federal trial and appellate courts, administrative agencies, arbitrations, and national, regional and local collective bargaining. He is the former general counsel of the Marine Engineers Beneficial Association, and is a member of the legal department of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, where he served as division counsel for both the Carhaul and Airline Divisions. With a wide range of labor law experience in many sectors, including the trucking, warehouse, parking, airline, railroad and maritime industries, he has also represented large, multi-employer pension and welfare benefit plans, as well as labor-related foundations and advocacy organizations. A former labor law adjunct professor at the Georgetown University Law Center for approximately 14 years, Mr. Gleason has also engaged in pro bono legal services relating to international labor rights for many years.

Mr. Gleason is the proud son and grandson of IBEW electricians. Recognizing that he was not nearly skillful enough to become an electrician himself, and only a marginally more skillful meat cutter, he worked his way through college and law school to pursue what was clearly his calling — to advocate for workers and their families.

A New York native, Mr. Gleason resides in Northern Virginia with his wife and two children.
